Families and community members can gather in beautiful spring weather to make strides against dyslexia or participate with a virtual option. On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the public is invited to join in the Walk for Dyslexia to benefit the Madison Area Children’s Dyslexia Center, which offers free, individualized tutoring for Dane County children who struggle with reading, writing, and spelling. The 5K walk/fun run will start at 8:30 am. In-person registration will begin at 7:30 am at Brittingham Park (829 W. Washington Avenue, Madison, WI). Participants are welcome to run or walk the course. No timing is provided.
Virtual Option: Invite out-of-town or even out-of-state friends and family to enjoy the fun—without asking them to travel. Run a 5K around your neighborhood, at a local park, or track your steps over a few days to complete a 5K (approximately 6,000 steps make up a 5K) if you’d prefer.
ONLINE REGISTRATION AND DONATION FEES: An online registration fee is added to each registration and donation. If you prefer to skip paying the online processing fee, we encourage you to mail in registration or donations. Please download the registration form and mail it in before May 1, 2026. Donations are accepted through the mail at any time, you can include a note that the gift is supporting the walk. If you are tracking your donations through a fundraiser, encourage the donor to include a note with your name on it.
TEAMS: grab your friends, colleagues, and family to form a team! All teams with five or more team members receive a $5 discount on their registration. Discounts will be enjoyed as a refund once your team has reached a minimum of 5 team members. Click through the registration process to start your team. If you are searching for a team already created, click the menu above to find them.
